The symposium will include discussion on a variety of crises unfolding across the region and internationally, and the role of media in communicating and influencing these crises. These issues will be examined from a variety of perspectives including: 
  • Makram Mohammed Ahmed, Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, will discuss the role of the Supreme Council in dealing with crises.  
  • Dr. Abdel Monem Said, writer and political analyst, 
    will discuss the role of media in crises in the Arab region.
  • Zeid Al Sabban, Director of Africa and Africa-Arab Cooperation, League of Arab States, will discuss media and crisis in Sudan and the Horn of Africa. 
Dr. Hussein Amin, Director of the Kamal Adham Center will moderate.

The symposium will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in Oriental Hall, The American University in Cairo, Tahrir Campus. 

The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The event will be conducted in Arabic.
