Absurdity rules in AUC Theatre's presentation of The Future is in the Eggs.

AUC Theatre presents a classic of the Theatre of the Absurd, Eugene Ionesco’s The Future is in Eggs, to cap off its 2017-18 season of plays.  Written in 1957, Future focuses on the pressures of its two young lovers, Jacques and Roberta, to produce eggs (that’s right, eggs), under the constant pressure of their interfering families. The human race depends on it. Typical of Ionesco’s many theatrical journeys into absurdity, the play ridicules the banality of postwar human existence in a manner that allows its audience to laugh their way through a variety of possible interpretations.

Featuring an all student cast, The Future is in Eggs is directed by graduating senior Adham Kassem, with scenic design by senior Ameena Houta, lighting design by Samy Sokkar, and costume design by Yara Mahmoud.

The Future is in Eggs takes place in the Gerhart Theatre May 2, 3, 6 and 7 at 7:00May 5 and 8 at 5:00 PM.

Tickets go on sale April 18 in the AUC Theatre Box Office, Center for the Arts, New Cairo Campus. Box office hours are weekdays from 2:00-6:00 PM. Tickets are LE 20
